Soup-Match-Love Days are coming back to Mud Puddle Farm’s Rustic Kitchen

Mud Puddle Farm’s Rustic Kitchen is once again running its soup donation program Thursday, July 21, and Friday, July 22.

Soup-Match-Love Days will be at Mud Puddle Farm’s Rustic Kitchen takeout-only lunch counter location at 101-10014 99 Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days.

Co-owner Sue Bouchard says for all soups bought on those two days, Mud Puddle will match the number and donate them to the Saint Lawrence Centre and the Centre for Young Parents…

“The donations are all soup so that we’re feeding people, cause that’s what we want to do. We want to feed people with our lunch counter with our catering and everything too, but we see the need.”

Bouchard says this time around Pipestone Energy, after hearing about this donation program on the radio, wanted to get involved. Pipestone donated $1600 to add a new component to Soup-Match-Love Days to keep even more people who are hungry and in need, fed.

“Were adding a component so that people will come in to get their soups from us at the lunch counter, which isn’t open anymore but were opening for these two days. If someone can’t afford a soup, down on your luck, doesn’t matter the reason we have ticket systems so they can come in and grab a ticket discretely come up to the counter, give us the ticket, they don’t pay for their soup.”

After the two days, whatever money is left from the Pipestone Energy donation will then go to the Saint Lawrence Centre and the Centre for Young Parents of Grande Prairie in soups.

“With the Saint Lawrence Centre it’s easy for us to take over hot pots of soup, and then with the Centre for Young Parents, they will get freezer soups, and for them that’s perfect,” said Bouchard.

Mud Puddle Farm’s Rustic Kitchen will be accepting donations and soup pre-orders over the two days. Orders can be placed through etransfer or credit card by calling 587-202-7477.
