Meet the Grande Prairie RCMP’s new Officer in Charge

Aug 12, 2022 | 6:00 AM

With nearly 18 years of experience in Alberta with the RCMP, Superintendent Lee Brachmann is now in Grande Prairie as Officer in Charge.

Supt. Brachmann has been previously posted in High Level, Fort Vermilion, Killiam-Forestburg, and St. Paul-Saddle Lake detachments.

He calls Alberta home and Grande Prairie is his fourth detachment commander role, coming from Lloydminister where he was in charge for the past three and a half years.

Supt. Brachmann says he is a little bit familiar with the area, having spent around eight years in High Level and Fort Vermillion.

“I’m happy to be here and learn more about the area and the people here… looking forward to serving the communities.”

He says the detachment has been doing amazing proactive work and community recently and wants to keep up with it.

“I’m going to be looking at continuing out proactive crime reduction efforts in order to enhance community safety, really being intelligence-led and community-based in our approach,” Supt. Brachmann says.

Community partners and developing strong, entrusting relationships with members of the public are also high on the new Officer in Charge’s priority list “Including out diverse populations here in the community and the Indigenous population as well to advance reconciliation efforts.”

He says community involvement is very important to him.

“Looking forward to getting my feet wet here and exploring the area. I’ve been involved in minor and youth sports over the years, some boards related to different associations as well, and my family and I enjoy downhill skiing and snowboarding and I know there are some excellent opportunities in the broader area and here as well.”

“Winters here aren’t short, so we’ve got to make the most of it and get outside and enjoy it!”

Supt. Brachmann joined the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment at the beginning of August.
