The City of Grande Prairie is looking for residents to be election workers

The City of Grande Prairie is looking for residents to work at voting stations for the by-election in October.

They are hiring both a Presiding Deputy Returning Officer (PDRO) and Deputy Returning Officer (DRO).

The PDRO’s responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the voting station as a whole.
  • Communication with the centralized election office.
  • Ensures all legislated election requirements are met.
  • They also set up, close, and maintain voting booths, equipment, and election material.

The DRO’s responsibilities include:

  • Helping with setup,
  • Closure and maintenance.
  • Helping voters with registration such as verifying voter identification and issuing ballots.

Both positions are expected to be on-site and at their assigned station for the entire election day shift, or until all duties are complete.

The election shifts are:

Advanced Voting

  • October 8 and 15 (two days) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (or until duties are complete)
  • PDRO – $600 (two days)
  • DRO – $450 (two days)

Election Day

  • October 17 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (or until duties are complete)
  • PDRO – $300 (one day)
  • DRO – $225 (one day)

Election workers will also be compensated $50 (per course) for the training course they have to complete after being hired.

All applications will be accepted until the positions have been filled.
