Late ticket push leads to another successful Cash and Camping lottery

Another edition of the Rotary Cash and Camping lottery is in the books.

According to Lottery manager Pam Nordin, this year’s lottery was a success despite some nervous moments.

“About three weeks before the end of the lottery we were really behind in sales. And I think some of it had to do with the time of year we were running it in, as well as some external competition. But the community rallied around us and we were able to come out ahead and to pay out our partner groups.”

“I did not grow up here, but I have been here for eight years, and it really warms me to see how this community really comes together for each other, and it is the Peace region and the Grande Prairie community and the province really that when someone needs help, everyone pitches in.”

Nordin says a number of businesses deserve thanks, including those that were responsible for making their ticket sales tent operational.

“Alberta Gold Energy and Rentals donated the use of a sales trailer. With that, we were able to park it at the Great Northern Casino and use their parking lot for our sales trailer for three months, as well as during our special events.”

“Also a big thank you to Rentco, E360s, UFA, All Peace Petroleum, and County Pump Out who provided us with the equipment and supplies that we needed for that trailer to be operational.”

Nordin also wanted to thank Canadian Tire for giving them a location to sell tickets during key weekends, as well as all of their prize suppliers this year.

The full list of winners can be found on the Cash and Camping website as well as the Swan City Rotary Club Lotteries Facebook page.

Nordin says work is already underway for the Cars for Christmas lottery, which is set to launch in October.
