Grant funding available for community groups through Community Foundation

Aug 31, 2022 | 11:31 AM

September 30th is the deadline for community groups to apply for grant fundig through the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta.

CEO Laura Lavalley says their portal is currently set up to take applications from local groups.

“We do have a pared-down application process, and we encourage any community groups that are looking for funding – whether it is project-based or some support with operations to please look at the application and consider applying.”

Lavalley says they have noticed the need for funding has increased, as community groups look to get back on their feet after the pandemic.

“The government supports that were in place were certainly helpful during the initial phases of the pandemic. But we are seeing as those funding channels dry up that there is certainly more need to support all of the good things that our community groups are doing.”

Lavalley adds it is important to remember that they support community groups right across the entire Peace region.

“We have a very large geographic area that we look to get funding out to. So it is not just Grande Prairie, there are a lot of fantastic community groups in some of the smaller rural areas. And we are excited to be able to connect with them and help support all of the good work that they are doing.”

Groups can go to the Community Foundation’s web portal to find more information on how to apply.
