Selfcare When You’re Grieving

How Do You Selfcare When You’re Grieving?

Sep 7, 2022 | 3:24 PM

When we are grieving a loss, we may not be kind to ourselves or recognize our need for self-care. We tend to be extremely hard on ourselves and more critical of our actions or words than normal. We are keenly aware of being overwhelmed and feel powerless to respond beyond our pain and suffering. Grief can take over your whole life for a period. Grief is exhausting work. It taxes our physical strength we need just to show up every day in our lives. It robs us of our ability to navigate emotional upheavals because we are in the most disruptive emotional journey of our lives. It robs us of our ability to be present with those that mean the most to us because our brains are being foundationally rewired by our grief. What can we do about all these things happening to us?

Essentials 2 Grief Transformation and Oliver’s Funeral Home are offering a variety of resources to help people during their grief journey.

Grief & Loss Seminars

It is very important for our grief to heal in community. With this in mind, we are offering a full-day seminar on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Oliver’s Funeral Home. The morning session is “Understanding Adult Grief & Healing” and runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. This seminar is for everyone who wants to understand that suffering has a purpose and how to heal within community. The afternoon session is “Understanding Childhood Grieving”. This session will parents communicate with their grieving child. This runs from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. You may attend one or both sessions. Oliver’s Funeral Home has graciously offered to provide us with lunch. Registration is required at https://www.oliversfuneralhome.com/grief-loss-seminars/

Small Groups

Following the Grief and Loss Seminars, Essentials 2 Grief Transformation will offer small groups on various topics and needs that will address practical ways to help with your grief journeys. These 8-week events will begin in November 2022 to May 2023. Watch for them to be listed on www.oliversfuneralhome.com  or at www.Kimberlytalmey.ca.
