Last day to write handwritten condolence to the Royal Family

Sep 16, 2022 | 2:31 PM

The Alberta government is beginning to close down the opportunity to write a handwritten condolence to the Royal Family.

Friday, September 16 is the last day you can go to the Grande Prairie Provincial Building to write handwritten condolence for her majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Alberta Legislature, Government House in Edmonton, and the McDougall Centre in Calgary will remain open for handwritten condolences until Sunday, September 18.

Online condolences will still be available till Monday, September 26, at noon, the day of her majesty’s state funeral.

The Alberta government asks anyone visiting a public building to write condolences not to bring flowers to leave, as they will be removed to ensure safety.

They ask to please consider donating to one of her majesty’s charities instead, such as the Canadian Red Cross Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
