NWP’s local partnerships help grow enrollment

Nov 2, 2022 | 1:03 PM

Northwestern Polytechnic is benefiting from some donations into key local industries.

Diversified Transport, JDA Ventures, and PVT Group of Companies have all donated equipment that will boost training capacity and improve education for in-demand industries.

“The entrepreneurial ecosystem is indeed alive and well in northern Alberta,” said NWP President and CEO Justin Kohlman in a news release.

With these donations, NWP can train an additional 25 drivers per year, which marks the first year since 2014 they have been able to increase student enrollment.

Kohlman said in the same release, “Many companies have indicated they would like us to produce more truck drivers and these companies have come forward to partner with us to make it happen.”

As a polytechnic, NWP is trying to reflect the needs of industry, and support from the community helps bridge the gaps.

NWP said in that same news release the support from the community is helping them grow faster than anticipated, and they are excited to align themselves with the industry in the area and where that will take them.
