Pill found inside Halloween candy in Fort St John

Nov 2, 2022 | 11:30 AM

RCMP in Fort St John is advising the public of a suspicious find in a chocolate bar that was reported to the detachment following trick or treating on Halloween.

A full-size Aero chocolate bar was turned over to Mounties by a parent, containing a white circular pill stuffed inside.

The parent said the packaging of the Aero bar felt weird and upon opening it, a portion of the chocolate bar appeared to be flakey. The parent brushed off the flakey portion of the chocolate bar and a white pill was found underneath.

The parent said the candy has been collected in the area of Kin Park in Fort St John on Halloween.

The Fort St John RCMP wants to advise all parents to check Halloween candy prior to consumption.

“Examine all treats, checking to ensure there are no suspicious packaging with holes or any unwrapped items,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Fort St John RCMP Media Relations Officer.

“If you find something suspicious, use personal protective equipment such as gloves, before handling further.”

The RCMP wants people to check and bring suspicious or tainted treats physically to their detachment located at 10648-100 Street, Fort St John.
