Grande Prairie with cheapest rent out of 35 Canadian cities

Out of 35 cities across Canada in October, Grande Prairie finished at the bottom on the list for average monthly rent for one and two-bedroom spaces.

According to the latest National Rent Report, rent rose 11.8 per cent across the country in October to an average of $1,976 for all property types.

Grande Prairie’s average monthly rent for a one-bedroom was $968 and $1,173 for a two-bedroom last month, being the most affordable by nearly $50 for both property types compared to the next cheapest rent on the list.

Year over year, a one-bedroom rental in Grande Prairie was up 8 per cent, for a two-bedroom it was up 9.7 per cent.

Alberta’s average on rent rose annually by 13.2 per cent to $1,412 for condo rentals and apartments in October.

The only other city that had cheaper rent in the month of October in Alberta was Lloydminister, which was not included on the list, with one-bedroom rent at $787 and two-bedroom rent at $943 on average.
