VolunteerGP and the City partnered to host International Volunteers Day celebration

The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteers Organizations, (VolunteerGP) has partnered with the City of Grande Prairie for a special event on International Volunteers Day.

A breakfast to celebrate International Volunteers Day will be taking place on December 5, at the Golden Age Centre, and will feature volunteer awards and door prizes.

Four awards will also be given out to community members and organizations that embody the volunteer spirit in Grande Prairie

Those awards are:

  • The 2022 Volunteer of the Year Award – for an individual or organization that made a massive contribution in the past year.
  • The Leaders of Tomorrow Award presented by ATCO – is given to a young person who demonstrates a commitment to their community and volunteering.
  • The Bill Bowes Volunteer Award – is given to a company for its contributions to the City.
  • George Repka Outstanding Achievement award -given to an individual who made massive contributions in the areas of culture, recreation, or social service.

The event is free for the public to attend and they will open the doors at 7 a.m. and begin serving breakfast at 7:30 a.m.
