Long-time Grande Prairie business community member becomes Chamber Board Chair

The new Board Chair of the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce says she is honoured to be head of an organization that does important work that makes a difference throughout the region.

Cindy Park was introduced as the new Board Chair during the chamber’s annual general meeting last Thursday.

“I have been involved in the business community in Grande Prairie for a long time, over 20 years. And there is nothing more important than making sure that we have the ability to promote this region, to create employment, to keep businesses going, and it is important that we step up to support that.”

Park adds there are a number of areas that will be key points for the chamber to focus on in 2023.

“Advocacy work throughout the province. We want to promote our over eleven-hundred members, we want to provide learning opportunities for all of our members, which will improve business outcomes as well. And we want to provide platforms where our members are able to network, and meet their next business partner and gain visibility.”

“This region is an economic revenue source for the province, and we need to ensure that the businesses and community are supported as they help drive the economy of Alberta forward.”

Park adds continuing work on attracting and retaining workers in the Grande Prairie region will be another focus point in the coming year.

“Labour markets are definitely something that are impacting a lot of businesses here in th region. And so working with the municipalities, with the Rural Renewal program, and the labour market research and workforce development planning, all of things will ensure that we try to do the best for our businesses to stay relevant and to be able to operate.”

Park replaces Tertius Genus as Board Chair of the Grande Prairie and District Chamber of Commerce.
