Beaverlodge Hospital ED without physician coverage overnight

Dec 7, 2022 | 4:44 PM

An unexpected doctor shortage means there will be no physician coverage at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital Emergency Department from 5 p.m. tonight (December 7) until 8 a.m. Thursday, December 8.

During that time, nursing staff will remain on-site to provide urgent triage, assessments and to refer patients to other emergency departments in the area, if needed.

However, the nursing staff will not be able to provide prescriptions or other services during this time.

Patients that have a medical emergency are still asked to call 911, with those calls being re-routed to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Alberta Health Services adds that depending on their needs, patients seeking care through the Emergency Department in Beaverlodge, should also be aware of services available through local pharmacies.

You are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
