UCP MLA introduces bill to make rodeo Alberta’s official sport

A UCP MLA has introduced a bill that would see rodeo named Alberta’s official sport

It is officially called Bill 205, the Official Sport of Alberta Act.

It was introduced by Camrose MLA Jackie Lovely.

“Rodeo is near and dear to the hearts of Albertans. It brings families and communities together, and it celebrates our western heritage. Rodeo also welcomes newcomers with open arms, is a major attraction for tourists, and is low-cost fun for people of all ages,” says Lovely in a release from the UCP Caucus.

Lovely adds rodeo has a long and storied history across Alberta.
