Province encouraging Albertans to have their say on modern, digital services

Jan 3, 2023 | 5:42 PM

Albertans are being invited to share their opinions about their needs, expectations and priorities for accessing online government services in an online survey.

Whether managing benefits, finding affordable housing and child care, or renewing a driver’s licence, the government says Albertans are using digital solutions more than ever.

Government officials say Alberta’s technology and innovation sector is a driving force in the province’s economic diversification. They further note it is critical that government keeps pace with technology, so Alberta’s government says it is developing a digital strategy to modernize its services. Officials say the strategy will harness innovation and digital technologies across government to deliver better, faster and smarter services.

“Alberta’s Digital Strategy is the next big step on the journey to becoming a leader in delivering world-class digital services to Albertans. We are modernizing our processes, providing higher quality solutions and more intuitive, user-friendly tools that will deliver better value and outcomes for Albertans,” says Nate Glubish, Minister of Technology and Innovation.

In addition to the public online survey, Alberta’s government says it will reach out to technology industry leaders, post-secondary institutions, health organizations and Indigenous communities to hear their thoughts on how they can better interact with Alberta’s government departments. Insights gathered are expected to help shape Alberta’s Digital Strategy.

The survey will be available here until January 24.
