Former educational assistant facing sexual interference, sexual assault charges

Beaverlodge RCMP says a report of someone they describe as an educational assistant distributing sexually explicit photos has led to an arrest.

Police say the investigation that started on October 12, 2022, after that initial report identified more than one victim.

Twenty-one-year-old Maddison Peterson from the County of Grande Prairie is facing charges that include:

· Sexual interference

· Making sexually explicit material available to a child

· Luring a child

· Invitation to sexual touching

· Sexual assault

· Obstruct Police Officer.

Peterson has been released on conditions and is due back in court on February 6.

Mounties say Peterson had briefly worked at Hythe Regional School.

Beaverlodge RCMP says there may be more victims and are encouraging them to come forward.

The Peace Wapiti Public School Division says in a statement that incidents did not occur at the school and that Peterson was fired as soon as the division learned of the allegations.

The division says support was made available to the students and families that were affected.

None of these allegations have been proven in court.
