Boundaries for new St. Patrick Catholic School announced

Jan 19, 2023 | 4:33 PM

The new St Patrick Catholic school is set to open this fall on the site of the former school in Patterson.

It was closed in 2017 due to mold issues in the former building and then demolished in 2020 after a plan to modernize the building was rejected by the province because it was over budget.

Earlier this week, trustees with Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools approved the new boundaries for the school.

It will include students from Patterson and South Patterson, Highland Park, Swanavon, Southview, Country Club West, and Country Club Estates.

Several rural areas are also included, such as Wedgewood, River Road, Tamarack Estates, Sandy Lane, Mandalay Estates, and the Dunes, as well as areas east of Highway 40, south of Bear Creek, and Grovedale, and other areas south of the Wapiti River.

The new St. Patrick’s will be double the size of the old school and will house 425 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 8.
