New online tracker for snow clearing progress in Grande Prairie

Feb 7, 2023 | 12:31 PM

The City of Grande Prairie has introduced a Residential Snow Removal Tracking Map for residents to receive updates every thirty minutes.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in a release, “The Residential Snow ‘Clearing’ Tracking Map gives residents a convenient and accessible way to watch snow removal progress in residential areas.”

When a two-week round of residential clearing is triggered, the map will show neighborhoods beginning to be plowed in orange, with the residential roads in blue.

After crews are finished the residential roads should turn from blue to green, unless crews were obstructed and couldn’t finish the job, in that case, the road will be in red.

Clayton said in the same release, “The map is a testament to our commitment to increased transparency and proactive communication with our residents. Council is excited about this new innovative map that helps keep residents informed about services that enhance the quality of life.”

The map will also keep a record of historical snow-clearing information, and will be able to inform residents when clearing took place in any area of the city.
