Peace River RCMP using previous information led to an arrest

Peace River RCMP used information gathered from an earlier investigation to execute a search warrant on two separate properties within Peace River, stemming from what they call a significant drug and firearm investigation.

On February 3, at 6:15 a.m. Peace River Mounties, with the support of the Western Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, seized a number of illegal items:

  • Two loaded prohibited handguns
  • One 12 gauge shotgun
  • 564.5 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 48.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 10.1 grams of suspected fentanyl

Forty-three-year-old Bradley Victor Morency of Peace River is facing 13 charges, including:

  • Possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by an offense
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order (x2)
  • Careless use of a firearm (x2)
  • Tampering with a serial number
  • Possession of a scheduled substance for the purposes of trafficking (x3)
  • Failure to comply with conditions of release (x2)

Morency was remanded into custody and expected in Peace River Provincial Court on February 13.

He and co-accused Shauna Pope are due back in Peace River court on Friday, February 10 in relation to a 2019 arrest where drugs, weapons, and body armor were seized from a rural property.
