Commercial truck driver pulled off road after ‘cautionary’ blood-alcohol level
A 43-year-old commercial truck driver from Edmonton is a little lighter in the wallet – and experiencing some unplanned days off – following a traffic stop near Whitecourt earlier this week.
Officers with the Alberta RCMP traffic section in that community were doing speed enforcement on Highway 43 on Tuesday when they clocked a semi truck with an unloaded flat-deck trailer going 130 km/h in a 100 km zone.
The driver provided a mandatory breath sample after being pulled over, which showed a blood-alcohol concentration of 60-99 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Commercial truck drivers in Alberta must have a zero blood-alcohol level whenever they are behind the wheel.
