Alberta tied for last playoff spot heading into final draw of pool play at the Scotties

Alberta is now 4-3 at the Scotties after a 9-8 loss to Team Canada in the morning draw.

Kayla Skrlik’s team gave up a four-ender in six before fighting back to tie the game coming home. Kerri Einarson’s’ team scored one in 10 to seal the win.

Alberta is now tied for the last playoff spot in Pool A with B.C., Nova Scotia, and the Kaitlyn Lawes Wild Card team.

Alberta plays B.C. in the 7:30 p.m. draw tonight. Lawes will play Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia plays Quebec.

Team Canada is now 7-0 and has clinched first place in Pool A.

Also in the Thursday morning draw, Ontario clinched the last playoff spot in Pool B with a 5-3 win over New Brunswick.

Rachel Homan’s team will play Casey Scheidegger’s Wild Card team in Thursday’s 2:30 p.m. draw.

The Scheidegger team includes Grande Prairie’s Kristie Moore as the alternate player; they are 3-4 and will not make playoffs.

Northern Ontario and Manitoba have claimed the other two Pool B playoff spots.
