Some local items in the new provincial budget

The new Alberta budget includes more money for twinning work on Highway 40.

The spending plan includes $84 million for the 2023-24 fiscal year.

A twinning project on the part of the road immediately south of Grande Prairie to near the West Fraser OSB mill will continue this year.

There is also $180 million to upgrade facilities at post-secondary schools. That includes a power engineering and instrumentation lab at Northwestern Polytechnic.

There is also $111 million to expand post-secondary seats in construction, tech, business, and energy.

There is also $1 million in the 2023-24 budget for expansion at the Grande Prairie courthouse.

There is also $8 million over three years to upgrade facilities owned by agricultural societies.

The government will also offer non-refundable tax credits for businesses putting money into agricultural processing and manufacturing.
