Kendal Farms’ Drysdale family is being saluted Friday night at the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show following last week’s announcement of the family winning the County of Grande Prairie’s Farm Family of the Year award for 2023.

Ken & Sherry, and the family were shocked when they learned of the honour they had been given.

“We don’t do it for awards, we just do it to be community supporters and generational supporters,” Ken says.

Kendal Farms is a four-generation operation, with Ken being the third and his son fourth.

“Hopefully within a couple of years, we will have five generations of farming in this region here of Grande Prairie and Clairmont area,” Ken notes one of his grandsons will be going to college to learn more in the agriculture sector.

Ken says his grandpa started farming in the mid-1920s east of Clairmont, farmed with his brother out by the Little Smoky with a cattle operation and got the chance to return to the area to farm in 1996, where he is today. The farm has grown to 4500 acres of oilseed and grains.

The family will be saluted at the banquet Friday night at Evergreen Park.

The Peace Country Classic Agri-Show hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the TARA Centre.
