Over 100 teddy bears donated to GPRHF by Penson School students

The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation has received over 100 new teddy bears for pediatric patients thanks to students at Grovedale’s Penson School.

Over the month of February, the school Student Council led a stuffy drive for the first time.

The Student Council is made up of five Grade 7 and 8 students: Carlie Hemerle, Grayson Fedorchuk, Sadie McAusland, Zoe Smith, and Brie Beattie.

Principal Mrs. Nicole Gilles says the drive had thrilling results; “The idea to host a stuffy drive came directly from the students. It’s been so successful, we hope to make it an annual event.”

Sally Bellerose with the GRHPF says after the busy Christmas season at the hospital, they are grateful for the donation to replenish their teddy bear and stuffies stock, “We are always in need of stuffed animals for our patients. This past year we ran low in October, so donations throughout the year are very helpful.”

The GPRHF hands out nearly 10,000 stuffies to pediatric patients every year, according to Bellerose.
