Apr 5, 2023 | 12:36 PM

Grande Prairie’s newest school will offer STEM learning programming when it opens its doors to students this September.

In a news release, the Grande Prairie Catholic School District says St Patrick’s school will have a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics subjects, with the teaching and learning done in what it calls an integrated and interdisciplinary way.

The district says STEM Learning emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills through hands-on activities and experiences.

It adds students will be encouraged to explore, experiment, and discover STEM subject principles and concepts through real-world applications.

They add through this programming, students will develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world and contribute to the development of new technologies, innovations, and solutions to complex problems.

The school, which will be located in the Patterson neighborhood, will offer Pre-Kindergarten for 3 and 4-year-olds, half-day and full-day kindergarten, along with grades 1-8.

They will also offer enhanced Kindergarten programming, also known as Kindergarten Plus, at an additional cost.

St Patrick’s will also offer Stepping Stones daycare and before and after school care programs for its families.
