Grande Prairie man pleads guilty in Fort Saskatchewan flight from police case

Alberta Justice says a man charged in a flight from police incident in Fort Saskatchewan has pleaded guilty to five of the charges he was facing.

Michael Robert David Linton admitted to possession of stolen property over $5,000, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle while prohibited, and failure to comply with an undertaking charges on April 5 in Fort Saskatchewan court.

He was given a total jail sentence of 305 days.

Linton was charged after an incident in Fort Saskatchewan on August 2, 2022.

RCMP said at the time they tried to conduct a stop on a truck that did not have its license plate.

The driver sped away instead of pulling over. The driver then got rid of the truck, stole a car from a rural property and took off again. The driver swerved at and narrowly missed officers that were on foot trying to make an arrest.

Police kept an eye on the car. It later hit the ditch and the driver was arrested after trying to take off on foot.
