Whitecourt Forest Area wildfire danger level upgraded to very high

As a result of above-average temperatures and windy conditions, the wildfire danger level for the Whitecourt Forest Area has been upgraded to very high.

Residents are asked to use caution when working or enjoying the outdoors, especially in dry areas as a wildfire can ignite easily and spread quickly.

Alberta Wildfire said in a release, they continue to assist multiple municipalities in responding to wildfires across the Peace region.

As of today, fire restrictions have been put in place for Grande Prairie, Peace River and Slave Lake Forest Areas.

The County of Grande Prairie, including Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley also have fire restriction in effect.
