Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and surrounding area evacuation order update

As of Saturday, May 6, at 12:45 p.m., the evacuation area due to the wildfire at Sturgeon Lake expanded.

Everyone from Range Road 230 to Range Road 251, between Township Road 715 and Township Road 700, everyone around Sturgeon Lake, including everyone in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is required to evacuate now.

Highway 43 is unavailable through Sturgeon Lake, as the fire is burning north and west. Take alternate routes.

Those evacuating are to reister at the Memorial Hall at 4808 50 street in Valleyview.

Bring pets, important documents, medication, and enough food, water and supplies to be away from your home for three days.
