Evacuation order leads to closure of Valleyview Health Centre

Valleyview Health Centre has been closed due to wildfires in the region and the subsequent evacuation order on the community.

Patients and long-term care residents of the facility were moved out on Monday and transferred to facilities in the Edmonton and Calgary areas.

Where possible, physicians and other staff of the Valleyview Health Centre have accompanied the patients and residents to their new temporary locations in order to maintain continuity of care.

Alberta Health Services is contacting families to share patient and resident location information.

They add all laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, mental health, and public health appointments at the facility have been postponed, while hemodialysis patients are being looked after at other facilities.
