City begins widening intersection at 132 Avenue and 97 Street

Starting on Tuesday, May 23, construction on the 132 Avenue and 97 Street intersection will get underway.

Crews will work to widen the intersection and add new traffic signal lights.

Project Technologist Andrew Booth said in a release, “By adding turn bays and installing new traffic signals, we enhance the efficiency of traffic movements, alleviate congestion and improve overall traffic flow in the area.”

Road traffic will be able to navigate all exits of the intersection while construction is underway, however, speeds will be reduced to 30km/h during construction, to ensure the safety of motorists and crews.

Booth adds in the same release, “Improving traffic flow and enhancing safety are key priorities for the City of Grande Prairie, and we are excited to begin this construction.”
