I noticed the need to get the people of the community involvement in the decisions that make the most impact to our city.
A new standard for collection input from the people on what issues are the most pressing and should be focused on.
I believe that the people should vote for the person they think will best represent them and not for or against a specific party, we need to remove this pattern that has brought us into the skewed vision of our current democratic state. As for me personally, I am committed to bringing back the voice of the people in our government and will implement surveys and forums where everyone who wants to participate can and the issues that mean the most to our community will become the focus.
I would like to see a dissection of the current healthcare policies and bring back regional input so that funding and programs that are a higher priority in our region are put ahead of the interests of the decisions that are made from a central location. I would also like to see a review of the current spending for our healthcare system to weed out inefficiencies and reallocate spending to where it is needed most.
I believe in their community involvement stance as well as the centralized views. We have spent so many years with our government being operated by the extreme left & extreme right and believe that with a balance of both we can find our way back to true democracy.
As a party stance this year, we have opted out of filling the constituencies with candidates and have chosen to focus on getting our few chosen candidates into parliament where we can show the kinds of change we stand for. Even if all candidates were elected, we would not have enough seats to form a majority government this election.
That an elected official can and would listen to the concerns of the people they serve and let their voices be heard. To know that it is possible for everyone to have a voice in the government and the democratic process.
I was born and raised in Wetaskiwin and moved up to Grande Prairie in 2006. Growing up I would spend as much time as possible outside where I just felt free. Family was important when I was growing up and we spent most of our summers in Saskatchewan at the family farm where my mother was raised. I started out my working life as a drafter just out of high school for a local electrical company and eventually moved into a programmer for the cutting and bending machines we operated. By the time I left that company, I had worked my way up to the punching division foreman and worked alongside our main shop foreman fabricating new prototypes for our electrical enclosures.
I moved to Grande Prairie with my now wife and at the time 2-year-old daughter to chase the oilfield dream and make some money while I was still young. This was when we fell in love with this city and decided to make it our home. Unfortunately, that oilfield dream did not last long when the long hours away from home made me miss my family and we decided that was more important than the money and I started looking for a new career that would allow me to be home every night. I found my way into the parts trade through the heavy truck industry and worked my way up from a warehouse worker to a red seal journeyman Parts technician and finally up to Parts Manager where I have been for the last 7 years. I have had the pleasure of working for a wonderful company for the past 17 years that has helped me grow into the man I am proud to be today. I have seen many changes in our industry as well as the ups and downs of the market but have still managed to create a career I am proud of and learned much of what I know will help me serve this amazing city if elected.
Family still remains my top priority and we still spend much of our time together in the outdoors if it camping in the warmer months or hiking and snowshoeing in the colder, we always make sure to do it together.
