Over 160,000 Albertans cast ballots on first day of advance polls

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Albertans came out to polling places in droves at their first opportunity to vote.

Elections Alberta reports that, as of the end of the first day of advance voting in the Alberta provincial election on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, an estimated 161,830 people cast their ballots.

The agency said this marks an increase of 16 per cent from the opening-day number in the 2019 election.

As of 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, Elections Alberta estimated that a total of 173,640 people had utilized advance voting when approximately 140,000 eligible voters did the same.
