Stompede parade, baseball on the local sports schedule this weekend

The Showdown Parade for Stompede is taking place on a different day this year.

It will be held Saturday, May 27. It will start at 11 A.M. and will travel from Hillside School south on 95 Street to 100 Avenue, then head west.

The Bust Out BBQ starts at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at the Bonnetts Energy Centre.

Rodeo and wagons go from May 31 to June 4. Rodeo Slack at Noon on Day 1. Main performances daily at 1 P.M. Thursday through Sunday. The evening show starts with the Grand Entry at 5 P.M. Wagon racing follows.

There is one game in the Wheatbelt Baseball League Saturday, Peace River visits the County Brewers. 1 P.M. start time at the Crosslink County Sportsplex. This is the season opener for the Brewers.

The Northern Lights U18 AAA team has doubleheaders in Fort McMurray Saturday and Sunday. The U15 AAA Lights are in Calgary for doubleheaders against the Webber Wildcats Saturday and Sunday.

Other Sports

The North Woods Tour 2023 disc golf event will hold its Swan City Showdown Saturday and Sunday in Grande Prairie. A schedule can be found here.

May 31 is now the planned opening day at the Nitehawk Bike Park if the weather allows. The original plan was to open Sunday but the rain made the road too soft and the trails too slippery. More information on the Nitehawk Bike Park Facebook page.
