No changes coming to junior high school programming in Beaverlodge and Hythe

There will be no change to junior high school programming in the Beaverlodge and Hythe area.

At their board meeting last week, trustees with the Peace Wapiti Public School Division voted to keep the current structure, which sees Grade 7-9 students from both communities attend Hythe Regional School before moving on to Beaverlodge for Grade 10.

The decision comes after months of engagement and in-depth review as part of the “Guiding our Future” consultation process that the school district undertook.

The consultation took place earlier this year after a request was made in 2020 by Beaverlodge Elementary to add a Grade 7-9 program to its school, which would have housed junior high students from Beaverlodge.
