New Court of King’s Bench Justice, official swearing-in for Alberta Court of Justice Judge in Grande Prairie

Jun 2, 2023 | 6:00 AM

Grande Prairie will soon have its own Court of King’s Bench judge, something it has not had for many years.

Canada’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General David Lametti has named Chris Millsap a Justice in the court.

Millsap has served as a defence lawyer in Grande Prairie since 2008, most recently with the firm Liberty Law.

Millsap was born and raised in the BC Peace. He has also been involved with the Grande Prairie Storm and Grande Prairie Minor Hockey.

An official swearing-in for Judge Steven Hinkley is also planned for Friday afternoon at the Grande Prairie Court House.

Hinkley was appointed a judge in what was then called the Provincial Court of Alberta in May of 2022. It is now called the Alberta Court of Justice.

Before becoming a judge, Hinkley was the Chief Crown Prosecutor in Grande Prairie.
