Indigenous murals created for Wembley schools
The libraries at two Wembley schools are now home to special indigenous murals painted specifically for each school.
Local indigenous artists and NIHA Cultural navigator for the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre Natascha Okimaw worked with the administration at both schools to capture their ideas and visions for these unique murals.
The mural at Wembley Elementary School features an elder telling a story to youth, with a medicine wheel in the center that includes different coloured quadrants that feature four different animals and traditional medicines.
