Valleyview RCMP vehicle search discovers illegal drugs and weapons

A search on a suspicious vehicle by Valleyview RCMP has led to a large seizure of drugs and weapons.

On June 20th, at 8 am, Mounties spotted a suspicious vehicle parked on Range Road 245 in the MD of Greenview.

Officers then conducted an initial investigation, and the lone suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a search of the vehicle then ensued.

Mounties seized a number of illegal items including;

• 132 grams of methamphetamine
• Several vials of heroin
• Scale and drug packaging materials
• Canadian Currency
• Loaded prohibited firearm, bear spray, and an extendable baton

A 46-year-old Grande Prairie resident, Jeremy Ian MacNaughton, received 15 charges;

• Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Heroine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
• Five firearms-related charges
• Five counts of Failing to Comply with Release Orders
• Possession of Break-in Instruments
• Uttering a Forged Document

MacNaughton was remanded into custody and scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Court, on June 28.
