Grande Prairie TSR called to real rescue while taking a training course
Grande Prairie’s Technical Search and Rescue says in a social media post that members that were taking a course ended up getting called to an actual emergency.
The post says TSR members along with a firefighter from Wembley were at the 17.5-kilometre Canfor bridge on Saturday for a Swiftwater Rescue Technician course when they were approached by a member of the public.
This person told them that two adults and three kids from their family were overdue from a river trip down Big Mountain Creek, which is located east of Grovedale.
The training was put on hold and other first responders were called in.
