City Council postpones funding for Coordinated Care Campus at meeting

Monday’s City Council agenda saw proposed additional funding for the Coordinated Care Campus pushed back further, the proclamation of Rail Safety Week, and amendments to the City’s traffic bylaws.

Coordinated Care Campus

Council referred discussions and approved the additional $1.2 million in funding for the Coordinated Care Campus project to go back to the appropriate standing committee for further information. This is funded through the Future Expenditures Reserve.

Council confirmed at the meeting all tenants have been moved out of the building.

Rail Safety Week

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed September 18 to 24 as Rail Safety Week.

Mayor Clayton says the week is about reducing avoidable death, injury, and damage to citizens and trains.

Amendment to Traffic Bylaw

Council approved of amendments to Traffic Bylaw C-1166J to extend the truck route east.

Traffic Bylaw C-1166J: The truck route now extends east on 68 Avenue between 92 Street and city limits.

City’s Strategic Plan Q2-2023 Status Report

Council reviewed the City’s 2022-2025 Strategic Plan – 2023 Quarter 2 for information.

Public Hearings

  • Council approved amendments to change a roadway name. 91 Avenue will now be known as Railway Avenue.
  • Temporary farming permission was given to a land owner, so they can farm their land until land development begins. Council additionally directed Administration to bring this to the appropriate standing committee, to workshop making this a common practice.
