Rotary Community Food Bank Drive returns on September 13

Aug 29, 2023 | 9:10 AM

The Rotary Clubs of Grande Prairie are gearing up for the Rotary Community Food Bank Drive.

Set for Wednesday September 13, the need has grown for the drive. Eight-five thousand meals were served from the soup kitchen in 2022, and 8,000 food hampers distributed.

Volunteers will be going door-to-door collecting non-perishable food items, unopened hygiene items, and baby supplies (clothes, pampers, and formula.)

Monetary donations can also be made out to the food bank by clicking here.

The Rotary Clubs are also still seeking volunteers to go door-to-door of solo’s, groups of four to six, sports teams, church, youth, and community groups are all encouraged to sign up.

Volunteers must have their own means of transportation, however additional gear will be supplied by Rotary. Routes take an average of two hours to complete and a free barbeque will be available for volunteers during unloading.

In 2019, over 1,000 volunteers canvassed the entire city and nearby communities collecting 47 tons of food in three hours.
