Former AHS official enters peace bond in second case involving sex charges

A former Alberta Health Services official has entered into a two-year peace bond in connection with a case involving sex-related charges and underage kids.

The $2,000 peace bond was put in place September 13 in Grande Prairie court.

A peace bond includes conditions like no contact with the victims or their families and no use of alcohol or drugs.

Charges of voyeurism, making sexually explicit material available to a child, and invitation to sexual touching were withdrawn.

The charges stemmed from an arrest in June of 2021. RCMP said at the time they had reports of offences involving a child that happened between January 2017 and December 2019.

The accused is already serving a 5.5 year sentence after being found guilty of a charge of sexual assault involving another underage victim.

We are not giving the name of the accused because of a court-ordered publication ban that prohibits the release of any information that could identify the victims.

Two year sentence given out in drug case in Falher court

Alberta Justice says a two year jail sentence has been handed out in a drug case in Falher court.

Carmen Lamouche had pleaded guilty to charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and flight from a peace officer in March.

They stemmed from a search at a traffic stop on April 10, 2022, in the MD of Smoky River near Falher.

McLennan RCMP said at the time that what police believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine, were seized during a search of a vehicle, along with several weapons, including a shotgun and a .22 that had been altered to make them prohibited weapons.

Charges withdrawn, dismissed in Peace River assault case

Alberta Justice says all charges have either been withdrawn or dismissed in a Peace River assault case.

Seven of the charges against Riley Salmond, including assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, were dismissed by a judge in Peace River court. Two others were withdrawn by the Crown.

Salmond was charged after an incident in Nampa on January 12 this year.

Peace Regional RCMP said at the time a Nampa resident had been assaulted with a weapon, and that the victim had suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police located a suspect vehicle, but the driver took off.

Arrests were made when the vehicle was located again a short time later.

A young offender had also been charged with two counts of failure to comply with a release order in connection with this incident.

Time served sentence in Peace River weapons case

Alberta Justice says the accused in a weapons case in Peace River has been given a sentence of 14 days time served.

Devin Donald Anthony Reardon was given the sentence after pleading guilty to charges of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and careless use or storage of a firearm September 11 in Peace River court, a day before a scheduled trial.

All other charges were withdrawn.

Reardon was charged on February 9, 2023, after a firearms investigation led to a search of a rural home near Fairview.

Police at the time said they seized a loaded, sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, suspected cocaine, and psilocybin.
