Homicide in Wabasca investigated by RCMP Major Crimes Unit

On Tuesday, October 17, Wabasca RCMP received a report coming from the Bigstone Cree Nation of an assault at a residence.

Mounties attended the residence and found a 75-year-old resident who needed life-saving measures, which were attempted by EMS, but ultimately passed away at the scene.

A female on the scene was arrested by RCMP and the Alberta Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Kree Taysheyah Roasting of Bigstone Cree Nation has been charged with second-degree murder.

Roasting was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. Her court appearance is Thursday in Wabasca.
