NPHL season starting highlights weekend sports schedule

NPHL

The North Peace Hockey League season starts Saturday.

There are three games, including Spirit River in Grande Prairie, Falher in Dawson Creek and Valleyview in Fort St. John.

All games start at 8:30 p.m.

Storm

The Storm are in Bonnyville for games tonight and tomorrow. Start time for both will be 7 p.m.

Grande Prairie has won five in a row and has a record of 8-5-1 so far in the 2023/24 campaign.

The Storm are a point back of the Pontiacs in the standings.

NWJHL

Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday, Wheat Kings in Sexsmith, Dawson Creek in Beaverlodge and Fairview in Peace River.

Saturday, Dawson Creek in Fairview and Peace River in Beaverlodge.

All those games start at 8 p.m.

Fort St. John is in La Crete for games Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30.

Football

The Mighty Peace Football League playoffs continue Saturday with the Athabasca Bowl semi-finals.

Fort McMurray and High Prairie starts at 4 p.m. followed by Whitecourt and Valleyview at 7 p.m.

Both games will be played at CKC Field.

Wolves

Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves volleyball will host NAIT at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday and 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday.

Basketball visits NAIT on the same days at the same times.

The women’s games go first for basketball and volleyball.

The ACAC cross-country running championships are set for Saturday in Lethbridge.
