Alberta Living Wage Network calculates living wage in Grande Prairie

Nov 8, 2023 | 2:32 PM

The Alberta Living Wage Network has calculated how much a worker needs to earn to afford to live in Grande Prairie.

In collaboration with 16 communities and local organizations, ALWN calculated that the average worker needs to earn $18.90 an hour to be able to cover all basic expenses in Grande Prairie, while still being able to afford a modest standard of living.

The calculation considers three different household types: a two-parent family with two young children, a single-parent family with one child, and a single individual.

It also includes savings for unexpected costs, continuing education, childcare, and funds to participate in the community.
