Nov 8, 2023 | 11:55 AM

As November is recognized internationally as Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Grande Prairie is planning on marking Thursday, November 16, as Pancreatic Cancer Day.

Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-death in Canada according to the Canadian Cancer Centre. The City, and DownTown Association will be raising awareness throughout the week.

The City will be lighting up the Sundial at Centre 2000 purple from November 12 until November 18, while the DownTown Association will display purple lights on Pancreatic Cancer Day (November 16).

Residents and businesses are also encouraged to join and create awareness by wearing purple, displaying their own purple lights, and having conversations about pancreatic cancer.
