The Mustard Seed picked to be Coordinated Care Campus service provider

Nov 25, 2023 | 6:00 AM

Calgary-based The Mustard Seed has been awarded the contract to be the service provider at Grande Prairie’s Coordinated Care Campus.

City Hall made the announcement in a news release.

The city says in that release that The Mustard Seed and Coordinated Care Campus both share what it calls a “recovery-oriented model of care.”

The same release goes on the say that The Mustard Seed will bring programs and services in several areas, including basic needs, housing, employment and health and wellness.

“The Mustard Seed is both humbled and excited to be selected by the City of Grande Prairie to work with this amazing community. We look forward to building strong partnerships in the community and working together to support those who have experienced homelessness,” says Katie Kitschke, Senior Director of Affordable Housing & Property Management at The Mustard Seed in that release.

The Northreach Society had been the service provider but decided in April that it would move to healthcare supports as a way to provide services rather than supportive housing.

“The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to welcome The Mustard Seed as part of our housing and homelessness initiatives. With their experience and expertise, they are well-equipped to lead the services and programs at the Coordinated Care Campus which will support residents in sustaining long-term housing, meeting our objectives for the Homelessness Strategy and ensuring a social and economic return on investment,” says Mayor Jackie Clayton in that same release.

The contract with The Mustard Seed starts February 1, 2024.
