Chateh RCMP arrest seven people following a shooting at a residence

Chateh RCMP, with help from the Western Alberta District General Investigative Section (WAD GIS) and other RCMP units, have made multiple arrests stemming from a shooting at a residence.

On November 18, Chateh RCMP got a report of shots being fired at a residence inside the community.

Once on the scene, Mounties discovered two children and a male adult were inside the home during the shooting.

An investigation then ensued that identified multiple suspects.

On November 24, Chateh RCMP, WAD GIS, the WAD Crime Reduction Unit, the Emergency Response Team, High Level RCMP, the High Level Police Dog Section, and the Explosive Disposal Unit all executed a search warrant in Chateh.

This search resulted in four individuals being taken into custody and the seizure of three firearms with ammunition.

A short time later, a fifth suspect turned themself in at the High Level detachment.

A day later, on November 25, Chateh RCMP located and arrested two more suspects in relation to the search warrant. One of the suspects was the owner of the residence that was searched, and the other was carrying a firearm, linked to a firearm-related incident that took place in August.

As a result of this week-long investigation, seven individuals were arrested and charged with six firearm-related charges:

  • 38-year-old Pamela Soosay, a resident of Wetaskiwin, (Arrested on November 24)
  • 24-year-old Trey Littlechild, a resident of Edmonton, (Arrested on November 24)
  • 31-year-old Travis Cattleman, a resident of Ponoka, (Arrested on November 24)
  • 33-year-old Kenneth Yellowknee, a resident of Slave Lake, (Arrested on November 24)
  • 36-year-old Austin Quintal, a resident of Chateh, (Arrested on November 24)
  • 38-year-old Deborah Didzena, a resident of Chateh, (Arrested on November 25)
  • 34-year-old Jordan McLoed , a resident of High Level, (Arrested on November 25)

Everyone named above was charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Restricted/Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition Readily Available
  • Two Counts: Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Soosay, Yellowknee, Didzena, and McLoed were all brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on conditions, with a court date set for December 20 in Chateh.

Cattleman, Littlechild, and Quintal were also brought before a Justice of the Peace and were remanded into custody, with a court date set for November 27.
