City offering a pair of free programs for GPAT riders in December

Nov 28, 2023 | 12:15 PM

To show appreciation for Grande Prairie Accessible Transit (GPAT) riders, the City of Grande Prairie will be offering a pair of free programs in December.

Starting on Friday December 1, the City will be recognizing International Day of Persons with Disabilities by offering free transit to GPAT riders during regular operational hours.

The other program being offered to GPAT riders in December is free round trips through the Northern Spirits Light Show.

Also beginning on December 1, transit riders can have city transit take them to and through the light display at Evergreen Park every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 6 p.m.

Registered GPAT riders will need to sign up for the Northern Spirit Light Show service either with their driver or by calling 780-830-7433.

Mayor Jackie Clayton discussed the importance of accessible transit in a statement saying, “Initiatives that provide free services for GPAT customers contribute to an enhanced quality of life for residents by ensuring reliable transportation, fostering social connection and encouraging community wellbeing.”

Any residents who would like more information on these initiatives or the Grande Prairie Accessible Transit program can visit the City’s website.
