Fatal assault in John D’or Prairie area

Fort Vermillion RCMP say a man died due to an assault on Tuesday December 4.

Mounties were dispatched to the medical centre in John D’or Prairie, where a man had been assaulted and dropped off. He later succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP are treating this death as a homicide and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over investigation.

An autopsy has been scheduled by the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office.

There is no evidence to suggest a risk to the public at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
