Fairview Health Complex emergency department expecting 24-hour closure Tuesday and Thursday

The Fairview Health Complex emergency department could be without an on-site physician for two days this week.

Alberta Health Services says that due to an inability to secure coverage, there will be no on-site physician from 7:00 a.m. Tuesday until 7:00 a.m. Wednesday. There will also be no physician from 7:00 a.m.Thursday to 7:00 a.m. Friday.

If patients call 911 with a medical emergency, EMS remains available to transport them to surrounding healthcare facilities.

Should the disruptions go forward, this will be the third time the Fairview Health Complex was without an on-site physician this month.
